Our 10 Year old son was having trouble in school, getting bad grades and having a hard time making friends. Dr. Christensen was so helpful in figuring out how to help our son (and us) with his learning and behavioral issues. He coordinated with his teacher to develop a learning plan that worked! Our son is now able to use techniques that Dr. Christensen suggested to do better in school and manage his frustration with school work. We no longer dread homework time or his weekly math and spelling tests! Our son is doing so much better and is now having friends over to play and is even invited to attend a friend’s birthday party next week! ~Betsy D. Spokane, Wa.
Dr. Christensen has been married to his best friend, Shelly for over thirty years. Together, they happily raised two sons, who share their family’s love for Northwest life. They are thrilled that their boys have chosen to begin their careers and build their homes in the Spokane area.
The Christensen Family enjoys golfing, hiking, camping, cooking, collegiate and professional sports (Go Zags! Go Seahawks!) as well as frequent backyard barbecues, luaus and holiday celebrations with friends & family.
Dr. Christensen loved coaching his son’s athletic teams as they were growing up and remains an avid HOOPFEST fan to this day. You can find him each year behind a score table cheering for his team!
Everyone reacts differently to stress related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. If you or a member of your family are finding it hard to cope, we can help. Our office team carefully follows all CDC guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of our patients and staff. All touch-point surfaces are sanitized before and after each patient; our providers wear masks in-session and we offer both tele-med and video-med services so that you can receive professional services from the safety of your home.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
ADHD and behavioral concerns are commonly seen in children and adolescents. Often, these conditions overlap and prevent the individual from realizing their full potential in school and/or maintaining healthy relationships. Typically, there is a reciprocal synergy between the characteristics of the child and those closest to him or her which can lead to increased negative interactions. Improving relationships through behavioral interventions can bring quick and positive results that can mend these relationships and lead to more consistent and positive outcomes.
Academic and learning concerns are more prevalent than most people realize. These issues can be related to varied mental health factors including ADHD, anxiety and motivational difficulties. For some, it is merely a lack of confidence while for others, causes can include familial inheritance like dyslexia, dysgraphia and math deficiencies, etc.
At MasterMind, our thorough and expert assessments can quickly get to the root of the problem while also discovering cognitive strengths that we can expand and use as valuable tools in overcoming these issues.
